On one\u00a0day he had no voice above a whisper. On another, the nausea bothered him so much that he requested a different\u00a0prescription. \u00a0His throat feels\u00a0very \u201ctight.\u201d He was not able to consume anything other than <em>Boost<\/em> on some\u00a0days. On the positive side, he had enough energy to go\u00a0for a walk around the block \u00a0with me on two\u00a0evenings.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Nick misunderstood. Rather than getting a weaker dose of radiation daily from now on, he&#8217;ll be getting a\u00a0dose that \u00a0is more focused, in particular,\u00a0on the area of his tongue on which the biopsy found the cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Nick has never complained throughout this \u201cadventure,\u201d but he is getting frustrated with smelling the aroma of food yet\u00a0being unable to taste it or swallow it. Pudding \u00a0made him nauseous today. Tomorrow we will try a\u00a0Boost shake: Boost and ice cream blended together.<\/p>\n<p>Good news: he was able to tolerate the Boost\/ice cream shake, and he has maintained his weight for another week!<\/p>\n<p>Today Nick\u00a0went to the oncology dentist. He must\u00a0go every few weeks to make sure nothing is amiss with his teeth. Thankfully,\u00a0his teeth are fine, and\u00a0he was given a \u201ctoothbrush\u201d that has a spongelike material rather than bristles\u00a0for people like himself\u00a0who find a regular toothbrush too painful to use. He has too much throat pain for a shake; I wish they had straws made of something soft \u00a0for people who find plastic straws too painful to use.<\/p>\n<p>Nick\u00a0will have\u00a0a radiation treatment later today.
