Our table was accompanied by the mother, who had prepared most of the food: chicken pot pie, salad with farm grown carrots and tomatoes, \u00a0and shoestring potatoes. For dessert there was melon, homemade strawberry ice cream, and chocolate mousse.<\/p>\n<p>After lunch we were \u00a0back on the bus, heading to medieval \u00d3bidos, a town built on a hilltop the is completely surrounded by a fortified wall. S<a href=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1683.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1535 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1683-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"141\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1683-200x300.jpg 200w, http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1683.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 141px) 100vw, 141px\" \/><\/a>ome in our group walked the top of wall&#8217;s entire \u00a0perimeter. As there are no guardrails and \u00a0many tales of people who have had serious accidents, we opted not to try that. While taking the orientation walk, we were treated to the town&#8217;s specialty drink. Called ginjinha, it is a \u00a0sour cherry juice combined with alcohol and sugar, \u00a0served \u00a0in an edible \u00a0chocolate cup, with a cherry. The keys to our room were huge and heavy, and the locks seemed to have been made in medieval times, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1964.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1536 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1964-219x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1964-219x300.jpg 219w, http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSG_1964.jpg 748w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 189px) 100vw, 189px\" \/><\/a>because they were a \u00a0challenge to operate. Nick was able to open our door, and then he assisted \u00a0Ann and Jeff, \u00a0and \u00a0Sherrill, whose rooms were on either side of ours.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the fun of travel is getting to know people whose backgrounds are different from our own. We decided to go \u00a0for pizza with Sylvia and Viggo. \u00a0The couple lives in Vancouver, Canada, \u00a0 but Sylvia is originally from the Philippines and Viggo is from Sweden.
