We awoke at 5 AM and began packing for our ride to Casablanca, the final stop of our trip. As we \u00a0looked back at Marrakech’s medina for the last time, we remarked at how different it \u00a0was in the quiet morning from the crowded, bustling gathering place that is was last night. Then \u00a0we settled in on the bus for the four hour ride, with a rest stop, of course.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>When I think of Casablanca, I think \u00a0of Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and the 1942 movie that \u00a0still captivates me and so many others. \u00a0It’s disappointing to find out that the movie was filmed entirely in California rather than in Morocco. \u00a0We learned that today’s Casablanca is the largest city \u00a0in Morocco, and is the country’s economic and business center.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>We were amazed when we reached the Hassan II Mosque. It is absolutely monumental, covering twenty-two acres. It can accommodate 100,000 worshipers inside it and 80,000 in the outside area. It has \u00a0many \u00a0unique features, including that part of it was built over the Atlantic Ocean. Its minaret is nearly 700 feet high, its walls are made of marble, and the roof is retractible. The Hassan II Mosque is a monumental tribute to Moroccan culture, art, and faith. Unlike most Moroccan mosques, this one \u00a0allows non-Muslims to enter \u00a0if they \u00a0have a guide. Ours was excellent.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>I was born in New York, so I was familiar with the west coast of the Atlantic Ocean. After our tour, our \u00a0new bus \u00a0driver drove along the Atlantic’s \u00a0east coast.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>We \u00a0passed \u00a0Rick’s \u00a0Caf\u00e9, \u00a0a \u00a0tribute \u00a0to \u00a0the \u00a0 movie. \u00a0It \u00a0was \u00a0too \u00a0late \u00a0to \u00a0get \u00a0dinner \u00a0reservations \u00a0there.<\/p>\n

Back in \u00a0our hotel room, we marveled at all that we had seen and done in Morocco. We would be leaving the following day.<\/p>\n
