They decided that they would take us to Sausalito before driving\u00a0us to our hotel. The weather was fantastic, with warm temperatures and without\u00a0fog.<!--more--> We enjoyed exploring\u00a0the charming shops in\u00a0the harbor\u00a0area, and \u00a0we had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We learned that the Blue Angels Air Show would take place on both Saturday and Sunday, with rehearsals\u00a0going on today.\u00a0We had met Carol and Cy as relatives, and we left them as friends.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_4823.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-805\" src=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_4823-300x218.jpg\" alt=\"img_4823\" width=\"482\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_4823-300x218.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_4823-768x559.jpg 768w, http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_4823.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2664.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-804 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2664-202x300.jpg\" alt=\"dsg_2664\" width=\"202\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2664-202x300.jpg 202w, http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2664.jpg 691w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 202px) 100vw, 202px\" \/><\/a>I loved our hotel,\u00a0which Carol \u00a0had suggested. For my 17th birthday, my parents took me to see the movie &#8220;Charade&#8221; at the Loew&#8217;s Valencia Theater in Jamaica. The movie features\u00a0Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, and an open elevator with metal latticework that enables the passengers to see each floor as they ascend or descend. Our \u00a0B &amp; B hotel, the Golden Gate, had a the same kind of elevator, and we learned that it has been featured in many movies.<\/p>\n<p>We had made arrangements with our son to meet him at his office at 6:30 P.M. We hadn&#8217;t seen him since Christmas, so it was a very happy reunion. Nicholas found\u00a0a restaurant that had good reviews in\u00a0Chinatown called the Golden Gate. <a href=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2675.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-803 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2675-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"dsg_2675\" width=\"277\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2675-224x300.jpg 224w, http:\/\/pisarro.org\/aboutnick\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSG_2675.jpg 766w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 277px) 100vw, 277px\" \/><\/a>I was beginning to see a naming pattern! Nothing makes me happier after a meal in New York&#8217;s Chinatown\u00a0than dessert at The Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, where ginger is\u00a0my favorite ice cream flavor. Sadly, I learned that San Francisco is not a\u00a0city that never sleeps.\u00a0\u00a0I asked our waitress about the availability of ginger\u00a0ice cream, and she gasped, &#8220;At this hour?&#8221; She assured \u00a0me that my request\u00a0was impossible to fulfill. It was 8:30 P.M!<\/p>\n<p>After dinner, Nicholas walked toward the\u00a0bus that would take him to his apartment, and we walked to our\u00a0hotel. We walked a minimum of 10,000 steps each day. We would\u00a0talk with Nicholas on Saturday to make plans for our tour of Alcatraz on Sunday, for which we had tickets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0Friday we enjoyed a relaxing morning with Carol and Cy, appreciating their hospitality and their company.
