\"\"<\/a>On Saturday morning, after enjoying freshly made waffles, we attended what was listed as \u00a0a \u00a0demonstration of \u00a0how to prepare a three course meal. Dawn and \u00a0I both love cooking and baking, so we were ready for something we thought \u00a0we would enjoy. Two “chefs” \u00a0would each make pasta with pesto sauce, salmon, \u00a0and \u00a0a black forest cake. It was quickly evident that one was preparing the food accurately, while the other was \u00a0deliberately mixing up the ingredients for each course. Sadly, I thought of Laurel and Hardy making “another fine mess.”\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The demo was to be followed by a tour of the galleys, but the line \u00a0to get in was so long that we gave up. I struck up as conversation with a woman who was in the elevator with us. She said this was her third cruise to Alaska. She also said she has never gone ashore on this or her previous trips, preferring to enjoy the shipboard activities. Each to his\/her own!<\/p>\n

As we got closer to Seattle, the temperature warmed up considerably. Many people took advantage of this to go on deck to use the pool and to get some sun.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our lunch was a seafood buffet: shrimp, scallops, mussels, oysters and crayfish. Bunny chose a mini turkey pot pie. At the dessert buffet, Nick chose \u00a0accurately prepared black forest cake, while Dawn selected tiramisu.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The naturalist would be broacasting to everyone interested that at this exact spot and at this exact time, whales had been spotted on the previous week’s cruise. Unluckily for us, there were no whales to be seen this day!<\/p>\n

The farewell show at the theater was shortened because we would be departing the next morning. The lead singer, who was top notch, had served in Afghanistan and Iraq!<\/p>\n

The ship was making one more stop, this time in a town in Canada called Victoria. My cousin Regina told me how lovely the town was when she took this cruise. Her cruise ship had arrived there in the afternoon, while ours did so after dark. We were told that all of the shops and restaurants had already closed. Since we wouldn’t be able to see or do anything, we opted to stay on board and pack for the next day’s departure from the ship. We were told to leave our packed bags outside our door.<\/p>\n
