Months have passed since my last entry. Nick has been having good check-ups with his oncology doctors. They can’t really see what’s going on inside his body without tests, so in May he’ll have a test that will check his swallowing reflex, and in June he will have a CAT scan to check that all signs of cancer are gone. We continue to welcome positive thoughts, vibes and prayers. Meanwhile, his ability to eat a greater variety of foods continues to improve slowly.
Nick has been focusing on getting the proper treatment for his glaucoma. He has had this condition for many years, and he follows a protocol of applying three kinds of eye drops daily. Unfortunately though, eventually the drops stop working. He has consulted with two glaucoma specialists, and has chosen one who has an office in Fairfield, the next town. Nick will be having surgery on each eye separately in May or June—something called an Express Mini-shunt. I’ll write more after Nick’s next appointment with Dr. N. He’ll also be having a check-up with his internist next week.
As for me, I have decided to begin my own check-ups, many of which have been postponed while I took care of Nick. I have an appointment with my eye doctor this week and my annual check-up with my oncologist next week. I’d love to hear the doctors say that my eyes are fine, and that I’ve achieved twenty-five and a half years of being cancer free. In May I’ll schedule more check-ups, saving the one I dislike most for last.
Our dear friends for about forty years, Jose-Maria and Agnès, have suggested that we visit them in Paris. We’re hoping to do that in September. We are so looking forward to this trip because it will be a celebration of Nick’s return to good health with good friends in Nick’s favorite city.
God bless you both. Positive thoughts and prayers are continued for you both. Paris….wonderful!
Continued best wishes and may the good news continue and spill over into into your own test results!.
