Southwestern Holiday 2023, Day 0 — October 10, 2023

In 2019, the four of us Pisarros thought we might like to take a family vacation together while seeing an area of the U.S. that was new to us. We decided on Austin, Texas, because it’s half way between Nicholas on the West Coast  and Nick, Carla and me on the East Coast. My niece, Dawn, was able to join us there for what was a very happy getaway.  After that trip, we thought about where we might go  together the following year.

Although Nick and I have been to the Grand Canyon, we were there on a hazy day, and we thought that seeing it would have been a much better experience on a clear day. Nicholas and Carla had never been there, so we decided that the Grand Canyon would be our next family vacation destination.

Then Covid struck.

In October 2023, the four of us thought that the time was right to fulfill our travel plan from 2019. Grand Canyon, here we come!

  1. We loved it and You will love it too. Be careful ’cause winter comes early in that area and you may find that some roads and mountain passes will be closed. If possible, while you are in that area you should also try to see Bryce canyon, monument valley and even Zion canyon. Our time in that area and visiting was one of our most memorable vacations….enjoy and be safe.
