Morocco Tour — How We Chose to Go to Morocco

A year ago, Nick told me that a friend of his had experienced a fantastic trip to Morocco, and he wanted that to be our next travel destination. As for me, I wanted to return to Italy, where I was certain that I’d love the food, the experiences, and the people. We compromised and went to Greece for a very enjoyable trip.

When we returned home, I began thinking about Nick’s  birthday in 2025. I wanted it to be special for him, so I told him that he could choose our 2025 destination. He said that although he  had loved our Rick Steves tours, they are limited  to Europe, and this time  he wanted to go “someplace different.” Nick was still thinking about how much  his friend had raved about  Morocco last year. That would certainly qualify as someplace different for us.

As I understood it. Nick’s friend and his wife did a two week  tour with a guide and a driver. The thought of doing that made me extremely uncomfortable, because I prefer trips in which I am part of a group. I began searching  for a travel company that could accommodate us. Although Nick’s birthday is in May, Morocco  is very hot then, but O.A.T. (Overseas Adventure Travel) had two spots available in April. My friend Flo had taken at least ten tours with O.A.T. and raved about them. There would be sixteen people in the group with the same guide (called a Travel Experience Leader) the entire time. We compromised and booked the two spots.

We have returned from our trip, and we will start posting our blog and photos when we recover from our jet lag. If you don’t want to receive our blog and/or photos, please let us know. If you do, I think you’ll agree that Nick’s birthday adventure was definitely, dramatically “different.”

  1. Looking forward to hearing about Nicholas’s lamp. I, too, would like one of those. 😊
