Montreal and Quebec City, Day 6 — October 3rd, 2026

I awoke having remembered a dream: Perry Como singing. My family watched his TV show faithfully when I was a child. While I pondered that, Nick awoke, saying that he was coming down with Nicholas’ cold, so Nicholas and I offered him the appropriate meds.

We needed to pack and be out of the suite by 11 am, so when we were ready, we took our luggage to the storage facility, because our return flight was at 5 pm. We decided to visit the Musée de la Civilisation. We learned that  this museum had in-depth displays of Canada’s Indigenous history. European colonizers and Indigenous people first met in 1535!

There are more than 200,00 artifacts in the museum’s collection. We learned that there are eleven different Indigenous Nations in the Quebec area, each with its own history, language and culture.

When we left the museum, we saw that the Queen Mary 2 had docked, towering over the  piers. She had been cruising the St. Lawrence Seaway.

It was so wonderful for the four of us to have spent this week together. Nicholas decided to stay in Montreal for a few extra days, so he went  to the train station, while, Nick, Carla and I headed for the airport. Our ride from Newark Airport to Westport was almost as long as the plane trip  from Quebec City to Newark Airport.

We welcome suggestions for future family trips.
